Assistant Coach Richard

Coach Richard has been coaching at DHS for eight seasons. He grew up in Anchorage, and started swimming for Aurora Swim Team when he was five. At age nine he took a break until he swam in high school. He swam for three years at Dimond and then made the team at Duquesne University as a walk on. After shoulder surgery his junior year he never swam competitively again. Coach Richard's best events were the 100 backstroke and the 200 IM. He swam for Coach Scott at DHS, but his favorite coach was Wayne Becker his coach in college. Coach Richard enjoys coaching because it gives him the opportunity to see kids grow over several years and the genuine engagment with the swimmers. Additionally, he feels it has a positive impact on the kids and the community.

Coach Richard is married to his wife, Kristine and has three young children.
